Paper Trends for 2009 - Part 1

We are catching our breath - after a wonderfully busy May. It's impossible to believe that it's June 1st tomorrow. Already. BUT, it's officially Summer at my house... I saw fireflies tonight for the first time :) After a fabulous weekend in NYC for National Stationery Trends, we wanted to give you highlights of the glorious rows and rows of paper goods!

Purple! We have already seen this trend in our invitations and other papers goods early in the fall last year - and it continues this year. Think deep and bold purples... not so much lilac/lavender. Paired with silver/gray, apple green, magenta, or just monochrome tones.

Lattice - A similar trend to last year's with repeating patterns... with a bit of modern trend... more structured repeating patterns as seen below.

Monograms are still hot... as seen in our samples above. Lots of single letter monograms on products this year... everywhere.

More to come in Part 2... and Welcome to June!

Do YOU PoGo?

Yes, the question of the day... Do you know about PoGo? PoGo is the sorta new Polaroid printer that uses ZINK technology (as in Zero Ink... ie, MAGIC!). It's a cute little printer that prints 2x3 photos (on sticker paper) from digital cameras, cell phones, etc. Here's a picture of it... we have the jazzed up red version, but you can get it in black...

Now, why you ask is this cool? Earlier this year, we had a bride who wanted to do her guest book as Polaroid prints... and of course you can't readily buy Polaroid cameras anymore (and the film is not as readily accessible either... ) We had seen this little red printer and thought hmm. Maybe we should check it out. We did and it's cool. It would be a great alternative to Polaroids if you don't happen to have a camera already.

Imagine - a cute guest book or frame with these little 2x3 stickers collaged and messages/names signed... The film comes in 30 packs and works out cheaper than regular Polaroid film. Here's a couple of photos printed of some of the Designs in Paper family...

It's important to note that you aren't going for high quality, high color photos here... and if that's what you want, this is not the option... But for some really cool, vintage, bit of grain, and unique color and texture, this little printer is a fun little addition to any event. Also, if you are really interested in this, use photos without a lot of detail in the background - ie, blue sky, etc. and they will print even better...

Anyway, a fun new idea (that's relatively inexpensive) to capture a memory or two!

hello out there!

wow oh wow! Well, we are sooo sorry that it has been so long since we have posted anything to the blog! We have had a wonderfully crazy month (a big, huge THANK YOU to all of those who have kept us knee-deep in paper!) . We've been working through long lists of to-dos with fabulous boxes of invitations, programs, stickers, and labels, etc. being delivered. While we are happily working away, I did just want to stop in for a quick note and let you know I've got lots of new things to post and it's close to the top of the list now, so soon! For now - Happy Monday!

Seeing Green (Helllllo Spring!)

Happy Spring! I had intended to get this post out for last week, but it's May wedding invitation production time in the studio so it's been incredibly busy! Everywhere you look there is paper - glorious, wonderful paper!
As the flowers and leaves are popping out, I started thinking about the change of seasons and thought back to my college days when I'd drive from my hometown to college after weekend visits... Spring was fabulous because going down the mountain, there would be a billion shades and tints of green all popping out. So as Spring comes to you - look up and out and see all those shades of green. And then... think of other color combinations that are really great with green these days. I made up a few color combinations that I've played around with lately... Think of purples/pinks/reds as complimentary to green giving it warmth and contrast. The blues give it a calming, more relaxed scheme and then of course the basic colors of black, grey, and brown... All of which green is fabulous with!
